Join us for our second annual Arctic Awards Gala celebrating this year’s inductees into the Northwest Passage Hall of Fame
All proceeds support our educational and public programs and the preservation of our collections.
The festive evening (6:00 - 8:30 pm) includes: the Northwest Passage Hall of Fame awards ceremony, the unveiling of an exhibition on the history of arctic exploration, delicious food, a cash bar, live entertainment and music, and a wonderful silent auction with great prizes!
Attention all hip chicks and high steppers! This year, we decided to travel back in time to the 1940’s - the era when the St. Roch made its first two voyages through the passage.
Thomas Beckman, CMC associate composer, has written for a wide range of ensembles that include the Borealis String Quartet, the Vancouver Symphony orchestra, the Prince George Symphony orchestra, the Postmodern Camerata and the Vancouver Youth Choir. For the past several years he has served as Festival Composer for the Artists for Conservation organization, as the in-house-composer for the Canadian Aboriginal AIDS Network and as a freelance film composer for several award-winning independent documentaries. With an MMus in western classical performance from the University of British Columbia, Thomas also serves as principal violist of the Vancouver Pops Symphony and the Prince George Symphony orchestra, and performs solo with his looping project for a number of events held by the Macmillan Space Centre, Semperviva Yoga studios, and the Vancouver Maritime Museum. Thomas’ latest project has been to create the Jean Coulthard Music Video series in collaboration with the Canadian Music Centre as a means to empower local composers in BC.
Join us for the opportunity to bid on exclusive silent auction items including wildlife tours, a limited edition artwork from Cory Trépanier, cultural events tickets and more!
